The BPO Jakhama has been upgraded to Sub Post Office with formal inauguration by Som Kamei, director of postal services, Nagaland, Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamei said that banking core solution will be introduced in Kohima by the first week of April and it will soon be extended to the rest of the state.
Also stating that the postal department has rural postal life insurance, he appealed to the villagers to promote this and gain maximum benefit from this scheme.
Kamei also urged upon the villagers to adopt saving habit and get themselves involved in the life insurance schemes.
Referring to the newly upgraded Jakhama SPO, the director said it will be fully computerized soon.
KI Singh, assistant superintendent, post office, Kohima Sub Division, said that Jakhama Sub Post Office will have five branches post offices and its account jurisdiction will include Kidima BO, Kigwema BO, Mima BO, Khuzama BO and Viswema BO.
On opening of this SO, the delivery of postal articles to the locality will be improved as all the articles meant for this place will be coming directly from Kohima and not through its BO, he said.
He also added that the department of Post India provides different services like money remittance in the form of eMO, iMO, MO Videsh, Premium Services like Speedpost and Media post, financial services like post office saving schemes, PLI & PPLI apart from the visual mailing of letters.
Razuzakie Phinyo, IPO (PG) DO Kohima and Medose Richa, chairman, Jakhama Village Council also spoke on the occasion.
The function was chaired by Vikehiel Khazo while vote of thanks was proposed by Kevilekho Kirha.
