Peren, June 27 (MExN): Advisor for Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, Wangpang Konyak, formally handed over smartphones to 20 anganwadi workers of the Jalukie ICDS Project under the Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 Scheme on June 27. The distribution ceremony was held at St Xavier’s Parish, Jubilee Hall, Jalukie Town, stated a DIPR report.
Advisor Wangpang Konyak said his visit to Jalukie went beyond smartphone distribution for Anganwadi workers. The primary purpose of visit, he said was to assess and gather first-hand information on the key issues and challenges faced by the department, particularly by the anganwadi workers in the district.
The Advisor emphasised the department’s humanitarian mandate, directing staff to maintain regular attendance for societal transformation. He called for tighter coordination with district administration to streamline welfare schemes.
Wangpang stressed the importance of raising awareness among villagers regarding the different schemes being implemented by the department. He encouraged the officials and Anganwadi Workers to actively disseminate information so that the benefits of these schemes reach the grassroots level.
The Advisor also directed the concerned officials and anganwadi workers to identify and verify wrongful beneficiaries from old age pension schemes, remove their names from the records, and submit monthly report to the department.
Short speeches were delivered by Secretary of Social Welfare, Yongchingkumla and Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru. The Advisor was accompanied by Secretary of Social Welfare, Joint Secretary and other officials from the Directorate. The programme began with welcome address by Tsungrosongla Ao, DPO of Peren and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by R Chirhotshu Nyusou, CDPO, Jalukie ICDS Project.
Following the formal programme, the Advisor also held an interactive session with the officials and staff of the Social Welfare Department, Peren, during which he carefully noted the issues raised and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.
