There is reportedly a push for carving out Jalukie as a full-fledged district out of Peren district. The ADC, Jalukie, had recently issued a “recommendation,” in this regard, based on a request from a forum called the Jalukie District Demand Committee (JDDC).
The recommendation, dated October 3, said that the proposal from the JDDC aligns with the state government’s “vision for decentralized governance, improved public service and inclusive all round development.” While stating that upgrading Jalukie ADC sub-division to a district will bode well for improving public services, it said, “I consider this proposal as feasible due to its vast geographical area and dispersed population.”
ADC, Jalukie, TL Kiusumong Tikhir, confirmed the authenticity of the “recommendation” from his office. According to him, JDDC had approached his office with a request for issuing a recommendation to take forward their demand to the state government.
While stating that the said committee would most likely submit a memorandum to the government, he said that cannot say when as he was not a part of the district demand committee.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Peren denied his office getting such a request for recommendation.
