Rev Prof Elungkiebe Zeliang addressing Jalukie Namgo Baptist Nqwa Platinum Jubilee celebration held on January 31.
Jalukie, January 31 (MExN): The Jalukie Namgo Baptist Nqwa observed its Platinum Jubilee under the theme “From me thy fruit is found” on January 31. The event was graced by Reverend Professor Elungkiebe Zeliang from Academy of Integrated Christian Studies, Aizawl, Mizoram.
A press release received here stated that Rev Prof Elungkiebe Zeliang praised the contributions of Lt Pastor Zieluiheing, who played a pivotal role in introducing Christianity to the people of Jalukie in 1949. Reflecting on the journey of the community, he highlighted the transformative power of Christianity, emphasising, “We are celebrating the fruits that our forefathers have strived for in Christianity and thereby relinquishing the practices they once followed.”
Rev Prof Zeliang acknowledged the “economic blessings” that have been bestowed upon the Jalukie community and commended them for fostering an environment of inclusivity. He expressed gratitude to the people of Jalukie for embracing individuals from different races and ethnic backgrounds, allowing a diverse population to thrive under the Jalukie banner.
Calling for continued unity for the glory of God, Rev Prof Zeliang encouraged the gathering to be thankful for the faithfulness and blessings bestowed upon them, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to achieve greater heights. “A divided house does not stand,” he added, underlining the importance of unity in the pursuit of spiritual and communal goals.
The jubilee monolith and souvenir were unveiled by Rev Ngimrai and Dr Rampaukopoing Michui, Education Secretary, ZBCC respectively. The programme was chaired by Hanggau N Hau, Convenor of Platinum Jubilee Committee. The welcome note was delivered by Zieroying, Pastor of Old Jalukie Sector ‘C’. Special songs were presented by Lekie Baptist Church, Mipui Jalukie Namgo, Lamhai Dungki Baptist Church, and Jubilee Choir, words of appreciation by Kumui Nring, Chairman of Jalukie Pumling Nko, and a vote of thanks by Irui Kenn, Secretary, Jubilee Committee. The jubilee celebration began with an invocation by Heikumbuing Lungalang, Pastor of Benreu Baptist Church, prayer of blessing by Rev Kuzierang Thou, and benediction by Rev Iringtie Kauring, Pastor of Zeme Baptist Church Kohima.
