Jama Masjid to remain closed

DIMAPUR, JUNE 12 (MExN): The Idgah Committee, Dimapur has taken a collective decision to keep the Jama Masjid closed “till an acceptable, well defined and operational procedure is chartered for resuming prayers while maintaining social distancing and other norms of repetitive sanitization requirements. A press release from the committee informed that this decision was taken considering the government’s understanding, and the need for citizens to reciprocate with responsible social and religious behaviors. “We further strongly believe that our religious practices should not in any way be a hindrance to national aspiration and well being. Lessening the burden of frontline workers is our primary responsibility as dutiful citizens,” the committee stated. It appealed to all masjid committees to “understand the bigger cause behind the decision and extend co-operation.” “Let us continue to pray at home for a world free of COVID-19,” it urged.
