They call it Hallyu, the Korean Wave, is certainly here to stay. Jang Hanbyul, the latest K-pop star to arrive in Dimapur was undeniably bowled over.
“This definitely gave me more energy, more positivity. I did not expect it,” said a surprised Australian born Korean star, Jang Hanbyul as a surge of young crowds welcomed him, when he landed in Dimapur Airport Friday afternoon, his first visit to India.
Interacting with media fraternity at Hotel Grand Tizu, Dimapur, Hanbyul who is here to kick start the “Summer Star Tour” on July 20 said he was looking forward to perform for Nagaland. His longest trip so far, Hanbyul said it was worth the experience, adding, “Performing for different people is always captivating.”
The event will be a Fan meet & mini concert, where he will pick random fans to play games with him, answer questions, sign autographs, take pictures and perform for them.
Hanbyul said Dimapur was a lot different from what he expected, with a “very very different culture. Different from Seoul.” He also witnessed distinctive shops on the way, and said he would love to go shopping here.
Learning about Nagaland as a place of hopes and dreams, the 29 year old star said it was going to be a different experience, and hoped he can reach out to the fans here.
Apart from the love of music and acting, Hanybul confessed he was a big time foodie, loves to work out (a lot!) and loves to travel. The young star also cannot wait to taste the Naga King Chilli!
“I am really excited to taste the Naga rice beer,” Hanybul exclaimed, quipping he loves gathering photos of diverse wines from different places.
Fluent in four languages including English, Hanbyul also holds a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland.
The concert plus fan meet is a joint venture of Musik-A (official organizer) with Pink Box Events and Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce (KACC). The organizers said the event, a totally private thing is held purely “for the love of music and for the love of K-pop!” The organizers have invited all the fans to come and support the event.
Meanwhile the entries for “Get to open for a K-Pop Idol” witnessed 51 entries, out of which thirteen have been selected to perform in Dimapur, Diphu and Kohima successively. The selected teams, three vocals and ten dance groups will get to perform at the Summer Star Tour.
Dimapur will host the event at IMC hall today. Entry begins at 3:00 pm and the concert kick starts at 5:00 pm.
The star will next perform in Diphu at Joysing Doloi Auditorium Hall on July 21, and end his tour in Kohima on July 23 at Heritage, Old DC Bungalow.
Jang Hanbyul born on July 4, 1990 Brisbane, is a former frontman of the band, LED Apple. He has been the host in popular TV shows like After School Club, Simply KPOP, MNET US M Countdown and has also appeared in multiple TV shows like Room of Secrets, Society Game amongst others.
Hanbyul, while inviting all the K-Pop lovers to watch him perform, hoped he get to come back in the future. (Morung Express News)
