
Mangkolemba, January 13 (MExN): The Mangkolemba Ao Lanur Telongjem, Mangkolemba Town Students Union and Watsu Telongjem (Mangkolemba Unit) have condemned the January 12 incident, where one youth allegedly attempted to abduct a class 10 student in Mangkolemba, under Mokokchung district. The organizations, through a press note, alleged that on January 12, one Imdongchujang (26) of Changki village and a permanent resident of Hokiyong Ward in Mangkolemba, “forcefully abducted” a class 10 student (name withheld) of Baptist Higher Secondary School, Mangkolemba from her rented residence at around 7:30 pm. It informed that the accused “attempted to take her away in a Maruti van,” but after travelling around 200 meters, the victim jumped out of the vehicle, thereby sustaining injuries to her face, rib and stomach. It alleged that the accused followed the victim to her house and “threatened to kill her.” The organizations have vehemently condemned this act and appealed for befitting punishment to the accused at the earliest. They cautioned that attempts to delay or lessen the degree of the case “will be noted with utmost concern and the three organizations will be forced to adopt appropriate course of action.”
