Student participants, faculties from different colleges from Kohima and Dimapur at the Matsuri festival hosted at JCC, Kigwema.

KOHIMA, APRIL 16 (MExN): Japfu Christian College (JCC), Kipfüzha, Kigwema, organized it’s first-ever ‘Matsuri’ festival from April 15 to 16. The two-day event featured a wide range of cultural and entertainment activities, drawing participation from colleges in Kohima and Dimapur, as well as over 100 individual participants from across Nagaland.
According to a press release issued by JCC, the festival included competitions in music, dance, cosplay, karaoke, e-sports, reel-making, photography, and other performance arts. Notable artists and performers such as Brooke, Trance Effect, DJ Rhon, TAFMA artistes, and The Cosplay Monster were part of the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Visakhonu Hibo, Principal of JCC, said that ‘Matsuri’ was conceptualized to instill values and beliefs in students through exposure and opportunities, and to help them acquire both skills and knowledge. She expressed gratitude to all those who have supported the college's initiatives.
Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TAFMA), attended the event as the guest of honour. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of understanding both success and failure, urging students to pursue excellence and clarity in their goals. He also highlighted the potential of the music, art, and entertainment industries, encouraging students to explore opportunities in those fields.
