JCPI urge government to disclose ILP Committee report before implementation

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 14 (MExN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) on Thursday urged the Nagaland Government to take them into confidence before the findings of the ILP Committee is notified for implementation in order to avoid any misunderstanding between the government and the civil society organizations.

The JCPI media cell in a press statement while acknowledging the Abishek Singh led ILP Committee for having submitted its recommendations to the state government however said it was yet to receive a copy of the report and therefore cannot comment on the findings.

It also reminded that the non-negotiable aspect of the JCPI demand is for bringing the entire Dimapur district under the ambit of the ILP.

Apart from ILP coverage for Dimapur district, the JCPI said the points to be covered for implementation include- enumeration of indigenous population of Nagaland within the ambit of Nagaland indigenous inhabitants’ notification No. AR-8/8/76 dated April, 1977; formulation of Standard Operation Procedure on ILP/BEFR for strict enforcement of the same, linking ILP issuance electronically allowing the movement of the ILP holders to be monitored; and prevent its misuse and exploitation, necessary checkpoints at all the entry points in Dimapur district, including the entire Disturbed Area Belt, formation of ILP permanent cell under the Home Department which will maintain links with land/patta registration authorities and various departments issuing driving licenses, trade licenses and finally automatic cancellation of all Indigenous inhabitant certificates/TLs/DLs etc., already issued to dubious persons and their descendants if their enrollment is not found in the data bank.
