JD (U) demands for berth in Nagaland ministry

DIMAPUR, APRIL 2 (MExN): Reaffirming that the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland is a conglomerate of the Nagaland Peoples’ Front, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal (United) pre-poll alliance as stated by NPF press secretary R Paphino in a rejoinder, President of the Nagaland JDU S Limatemjen today said, “DAN leadership has made JDU party an outcast of DAN by depriving its participation in the ministry violating the pre-poll alliance.”

Instead, JDU MLA Deo Nukhu was made Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board, Nagaland; “a post which any layman can occupy,” a release said. Saying that the JDU office was not even informed or invited to the three year completion celebration of the DAN, Limatemjen said the Party had already expressed its displeasure and resentment to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for non-induction in the Ministry. The appeal for induction made to Rio is still awaited, he said.

“It is learned that reshuffle of Ministry is in the offing shortly. JDU party demands the restoration of per-poll alliance of DAN by inducting the JDU in the Ministry.”

Further, the release said the JDU Nagaland was ‘quite shocked and embarrassed’ to hear about the tirade in the recent Nagaland Assembly session and press releases by Huska Sumi, MLA against the Chief Minister and the government on the policy of equi-closeness and deployment of 9 IRB to Chhattisgarh.

Limatemjen said Huska’s notice served to the Speaker of the Assembly on March 15 expressing want of confidence in the Council of Ministers on a motion disapproving the policy of the Ministry headed by Rio on several grounds also came as a surprise.
