Wokha, February 1 (MExN): The Janata Dal (United) Nagaland unit today stated the party is “seriously contemplating” of not entering into pre-poll alliance with any political parties in the run up to the General Election 2018. JD (U) Nagaland president, Senchumo Lotha (NSN) announced this in a statement while reiterating the party’s stand on solution before election.
“The party is in the process of considering the merits and demerits of its alliance with the present Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) during the last five years,” said the statement.
It informed that the JD (U) State unit has been empowered to take decision on the matter after carefully analyzing the reaction of the people towards the half decade governance of the DAN.
“A call to the continuance or estrangement with the DAN is at its final stage and could be announced in a day or two,” the statement further said.
Maintaining that the JD (U) stands by the statement published in the dailies by the party Chief Spokesperson and Secretary General, KC Tyagi, it called upon all political parties in the state to respect the sentiments and unanimous call of the Naga people.
The JD (U) meanwhile assured the Naga people that “it shall not be the first to issue tickets to the aspirants so that posterity will not lay blame on us.”
