Janata Dal (United) candidate from 24th Angetyongpang A/C, Sashimar today declared his candidature at his native village Mongsenyimti here today in front of hundreds of supporters and party workers.
Sashimar, a former Naga Students’ Federation leader and contesting for the second time from the same constituency, asked the people to judge him, weigh his capability and vote accordingly. He strongly lamented the ‘election related violence’ at Mongsenyimti, and said that he stands by the call of the churches – the ABAM and NBCC – for Clean Election in Nagaland where everyone can vote freely and fairly.
While listing out his manifestoes, the candidate emphasized on the Naga youths, especially that educated unemployed youths of Angetyongpang constituency and Nagaland. He specified, or pledged, to sponsor the sons and daughters personally for the students of the farmers and rural area inhabitants so that they can get quality education.
Besides, he listed out his dreams for a better economy where everyone can lead a dignified self-sustained life. He said that he is contesting for the second time, not because he has money, but because he has the desire the serve the people ‘if God willing’. Therefore, he asked the electorates to vote for him, if they think that he is capable and give him a chance to serve the people.
The JD (U) candidate also broke down as he asked the people not to create violence in his name or the party; he urged the electorates to conduct free and fair polls in consonance with the churches call for clean election.
Others who spoke at the programme were Aojungshi, president JD (U) 24 Angetyongpang A/C and representatives from the twelve units under the constituency. 24th Angetyongpang A/C has five candidates – Tongpang Ozukum (Ind), Alemtemshi Jamir (NDPP), Sashimar (JD-U), Supongwati and S Chuba Longkumer (NPF).
