JD (U) says its stands for ‘solution before election’

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): Secretary General and Chief Spokesperson of the Janata Dal (U), KC Tyagi today stated that the party “stands for Solution before Election to the vexed Naga problem.”

The JD (U) reminded that the party’s founder Jaya Prakash Narayan was one of the members of the Peace Commission of 1964 “who travelled the length and breadth of the Naga areas in person and had strongly advocated for the right of self determination for the Naga people by making recommendation that the Nagas could ‘on their own volition, decide to be a participant in the Union of India and mutually settle the terms and conditions for that purpose’.”

“At this juncture, when the whole Naga people are in one voice and in one mind wholeheartedly desiring for a solution rather than election, the Janata Dal(United) stands in solidarity with the Naga people,” it sated.

The JD (U) further appealed to the Government of India to take into serious consideration the “demand of the Naga people and apply judicious mind by reciprocating to the situation sagaciously at the earliest time possible.” While asking other political parties to respect the wishes of the Naga people, it reiterated that the party would “never stand against the wishes of the Naga people.”
