JD (U) slams NBCC’s call for conscious voting as ‘hypocrisy’

DIMAPUR, APRIL 11 (MExN): The Nagaland unit of Janata Dal (United) on Thursday said it was “flabbergasted” by the April 11 statement of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Clean Election Management appealing Nagaland voters to ‘vote consciously’ against “bigotry.”

The Nagaland JU (U) president, Senchamo Lotha called out the NBCC on its “act of hypocrisy” while alleging that during the last general assembly elections 2023, many reverends, pastors and prominent church workers were busy tacitly or even openly supporting various candidates of political party which is now being labelled with “Bigotry.”

“It is indeed an act of hypocrisy that only in the ongoing parliamentary election, the term bigotry or vote consciously or safeguard democracy is coming out of the office of NBCC,” it stated.

Moreover, if the NBCC “Bigotry” is to mean BJP, then it is absolutely misconstrued because the present prominent candidate of PDA/NDA candidate is from NDPP which has its own constitution and foundation rooted to regional basics, the JD (U) further stated.

The JDU, therefore, appealed to the NBCC to tread its own path of righteousness and strengthen its members with spiritual food than mess with a system which is beyond their power and responsibilities.
