JDU Nagaland backs ANCSU’s demand for KPA upgradation

Wokha, May 30 (MExN): The Janata Dal United (JDU), Nagaland has strongly backed  the All Nagaland College Students’ Union’s (ANCSU) demand for upgrading the Khelhoshe Polytechnic, Atoizu (KPA), into a full-fledged engineering college.

"The upgradation is one of the most genuine necessities for the state of Nagaland,” stated the JDU in a press communiqué from its President Senchumo NSN Lotha and General Secretary Imsumongba Pongen.

It emphasised the critical need for such an institution in Nagaland, noting that every other state in India has at least one engineering college, while the state has note.

The JDU further pointed out the increasing trend of students leaving Nagaland to seek technical education elsewhere, which imposes significant financial burdens on the Naga community.

To this end, it regretted that none of the successive state governments has has ever given a serious thought on the educational development of the State be it at the school or college level.

Health, education and roads are the three basic requirements that lay the foundation towards a welfare state, the JDU asserted.
Education being the centre of these three basic domains in the affairs of good governance, the Nagaland Government must wake up with never too late approach and radically work towards reformation of education, it added.

In light of these concerns, JDU called upon the present government to prioritise educational advancement in Nagaland.
The party viewed the upgrade of KPA to an engineering college as a crucial initial step towards this goal.

In a representation on May 28, the ANCSU urged the Nagaland Chief Secretary to prioritise the issue and expedite necessary processes to upgrade KPA to a full-fledged engineering college.
