JEK Welfare Society completes 25 years

Kohima, January 2 (MExN): JEK Welfare Society, Tesophenyu celebrated its Silver Jubilee on December 30 at HQ Tesophenyu village. Er. Levi Rengma, Parliamentary Secretary Housing, Government of Nagaland graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Shingato Rengma, Curator, Department of Art and Culture, was the Guest of Honour.  

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that jubilee is the time when members of the society should forgive one another and bridge differences through mutual love and sense of unity. He encouraged the society members to continue to keep-up the traditional practices through folksongs and dances.  

Earlier in the morning, the chief Guest also inaugurated the newly built library hall constructed under the Rajaram Mohon Roy Library Foundation Scheme. The Chief Guest called upon the people to make good use of the library and gave his commitment that he would subscribe for The Morung Express and Nagaland Post news dailies, magazines and books for the library.  

David Magh, the President of JEK Welfare Society, while addressing the gathering expressed his profound gratitude to the Director, Art and Culture for availing the Scheme to the Society. The guest of Honour in his speech called upon the society members to go forward in unity and work along in preserving the rich traditional culture of the village.  

Other highlights of the program included traditional folk songs presented by JEK women and men folk and traditional dance by the youth.  

The programme was chaired by Thomas Magh and vote of thanks was proposed by Kehoyi Kez.
