A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited Nagaland from July 7 to 9.

Kohima, July 10 (MExN): A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited Nagaland from July 7 to 9 to assess the progress of the “Project for the Establishment of the Medical College Hospital at Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Kohima.”
The team included Arima, Senior Representative; Aditi Puri, Additional Chief Development Specialist; and Mahua Mukherjee, Additional Lead Project Officer.
The IEC Bureau, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare; Nagaland in a press release stated that the project is being implemented by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, with financial assistance under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) Loan Agreement No. ID-P322, signed between JICA and the Government of India on February 20, 2024.

During their visit, the JICA team held detailed discussions with officials from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland. Representatives from the Project Management Consultant (PMC) were also present at the meeting. The delegation visited the proposed project construction site at NIMSR, Kohima, and reviewed preparatory activities for implementation, as construction work is yet to be initiated.
The visit reflects JICA’s dedication to partnering with the Government of Nagaland in building resilient healthcare systems and advancing medical education infrastructure to serve the people of the state more effectively, the release added.
