JLF should sacrifice for Naga solution not election: CNTC

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The newly formed Central Nagaland Tribal Council (CNTC) has made an appeal to the Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) “to implement their resolution in letter and spirit to press for bringing early political solution by sacrificing their individual interest for the cause of the Nagas to achieve the long cherish desire of the Naga people for solution and not election”. 

“For the common interest resignation should come first before solution and not after solution. Resignation after solution will be meaningless, since term of the present JLF will come to an end with the declaration of election”, stated the CNTC in a press note issued by its President Ntsemo Ngullie and General Secretary Imtinochet.

The CNTC has pointed out that every political party had been proclaiming that they will facilitate for Naga Political Solution if elected to power and the same was incorporated in their party manifesto “but so far none of the political party has achieved what they assert”. The CNTC stated that it had “introspected the pros and cons of the activism of the different political parties and the resolution of the JLF” and therefore earnestly appealed to the legislators to abide by its resolutions. 

Stating that after 6 (six) long decades of political turmoil, the political dialogue between government of India and Naga political groups started in August 1997, the CNTC pointed out that with the prolong political dialogue stretching more than 15 years, the Joint Legislature Forum in its maiden resolutions on 19th July 2012 in order to extend constructive and speedy solution, decided to resign if solution come on the Naga political issue. 

The CNTC mentioned about the Congress party on November 10, 2012, deciding to resign from the legislature provided the NPF were willing to do the same to pave way for early Naga political solutions considering the stage of dialogue as well as the approaching of State Assembly election at the early part of 2013 so as to enable the central Govt. to decide on the issue of solution and not election as this crucial juncture.

Meanwhile the CNTC has also extended warmest Christmas greetings to all the citizens of the State and prayed that peace and prosperity shower upon everyone this season. The Council also appealed to all Naga political groups to shun violence and killing of one another as that will not bring about any political solution rather the CNTC urged the groups to come closer and jointly fight for common goal and a peaceful existence in our homeland.
