
Tuensang, September 22 (MExN): Students and staff of JNV, Chare, Tuensang undertook an excursion to Chungliyimti historical village on September 22. The excursion was undertaken as part of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India’s ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative under Paryatan Parv 2018 –a nation-wide celebration of tourism from September 16 to 27.
The team, comprising of students from the 10th standard, two teachers and staff nurse of the Vidyalaya visited and learned about ‘longtrok’, the legendary six stones and the culture, and tradition of the place, it was stated in a release.
They also interacted with the village elders regarding the folklore and legend associated with ‘longtrok’ and the surrounding area.
Earlier, during the flag-off ceremony, Harish Kalita Principal, JNV Chare stated that it is imperative to be aware about the historical places in one’s own area and urged the students to develop stronger interest in promoting appreciation of its endowed resources.
Other events of ‘Paryatan Parv’ 2018 celebration at JNV Chare include house wise essay writing and quiz competition among other activities aimed at drawing focus on the benefits of tourism, promoting and creating interest in the cultural diversity of the country and reinforcing the principle of tourism among the students.
