Jotsoma Village Council instructs families to start organic farming

Dimapur, July 9 (MExN): The Jotsoma Village Council (JVC) has instructed all the families to start organic farming in and around the village since their market is in close proximity to Kohima.


This instruction was issued following the meeting of the JVC and the elders of Kuda 'A' village, Dimapur with MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro at NN Nagi School, Dimapur on July 8. The meeting was called to discuss about the economy of their village, informed a press release. 


It also stated that stone mining is one of the main sources of income of the Jotsoma villagers but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the business has been deteriorating slowly. “Therefore, the village elders felt that they should have an alternative source of income.” They house, discussing on the importance of agriculture stressed that they should go back to agricultural roots and agreed “the best way to live with COVID-19 is through farming.”
