‘Journey of the Stone’, sequel to “When the River Sleeps” by Easterine Kire was virtually released on Friday evening by Abuan Pamei. Although it is a sequel, Kire said during the launch that it is also a standalone book, “and even if you have not read ‘When the River Sleeps’, you will still enjoy it and it will make sense.” However, “we recommend that you read so you can enjoy the new book so much better,” she added.

Referring to the illustrations by Senganglu Thaimei, she also said that the illustrator has opened a portal for the readers to step in. “It is the world of Vilie—a beautiful and spiritual universe and you have to use your imagination greatly”, she explained while advising readers “to access it with your imagination, and go in fearlessly.” “Enjoy it, learn from it, and take those lessons home,” she said.

Journey of the Stone, she articulated is also a book about values that are eternal. In this regard, she pointed out that values like compassion and faith are eternal and also important to Vilie in both the worlds of “material and spiritual where he lives now.” She also impressed upon that the right relationship with the Creator is an eternal thing.

The book, she further highlighted is a book about battles while putting across that the greatest battlefield is one’s mind. In this connection, she also said, “protect your beautiful mind.” The book is being published by Barkweaver. Kire also announced that Barkweaver is intending to expand and going to movie making as well.

Editor of the book, Kartikeya Jain commented that ‘Journey of the Stone” is a hugely entertaining book while adding that it was a privilege for him to be a part of it. He commended Barkweaver for the important work they are doing and emphasized that it is important to support independent publishers.

The Illustrator, Senganglu Thaimei expressed she was honoured and grateful to be part of the project during which, she has also come to see the larger vision of Easterine Kire, which is to make books more affordable and create reading culture. Books, she pointed out, are sometimes very expensive that people with lower income cannot afford it. “I am so excited to be part of the reading culture in our place,” she said.

Abuan Pamei formally released the book with a prayer. Paul Pimomo also spoke during the occasion while Veio Pou, author of “Waiting for the dust to settle” was the host of the virtual launch.
