A coal mine in the Beireuki area near Kezanglo.
DIMAPUR, APRIL 3 (MExN): The Jaluki Pumling Youth Organization has cautioned against coal mining in the Beireuki area. The JPYO has cautioned Coal miners at the Beireuki near Kezanglo to immediately stop the work as “it was done without the knowledge and concern of the Jalukie People.”
The President of JPYO, Ituhangbe Hingleu and Akiabe Hiekha in a joint statement asserted that the site is within the traditional boundary of Jalukie and moreover the land is now in dispute and is under a court case. Therefore the JPYO has urged the government and the concerned authorities to speed up settlement of the court case and immediately stop the mining of coal at Beireuki. It added that failing this, the JPYO would be compelled to take its own course of action and that the organization would not be held responsible for any untoward incidence.
