
Kohima, May 29 (DIPR): Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem, Jubilee Memorial Education Merit Award, 2017, HSLC 2017 was held on May 28 at KLST Yim Ki (Agri Forest Colony), Kohima.
Pangertoshi Pongen, in his welcome address gave a briefing on the formation of the award in 1994. He encouraged the students to study hard and be sincere to become a successful person in life.
Delivering a speech on ‘manners and tradition’ Sr. Accounts Officer, Kohima, T. Simon Pongen said manners and traditions are the true qualities of the tribe which has been carried on through generations. Without this awareness we will destroy our own tradition, he said. Encouraging parents to instruct the same to their children, he expressed fear of non-respect in the society in the absence of such knowledge. Winners do not do different things, they do it differently, he said, further urging the students to work hard at all levels.
Merit awards were given away to 14 successful students including a special award of Rs.10,000 to Longsener Longkumar who secured the 19thposition in HSLC examination, 2017. The special award was sponsored by Director, IPR, Limawati Longchar. The programme was chaired by Moalong Pongen.
