Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): Staffers of the judicial department today threatened the government with agitations for the latter allegedly failing to implement service rules of the “staff of the judiciary.” The All Nagaland Judicial Ministerial Staff Association (ANJMSA) issued a copy of a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, where the staff in concern aired their grievance.
The association said that the members agitate if the government fails to respond to their demand for implementation of the service rules within a month’s time. The letter referred to an order of the Supreme Court dated October 10, 2009 and a directive issued by the registrar General of the Guwahati High Court dated September 14, 2011.
Clear directions have been issued to the government for framing the service rules for the ministerial staff of the subordinate courts of Nagaland, the letter said. Representations have been made to the government on several occasions in this regard, the association said, but the State has so far failed to take any step.
“It may be mentioned here that the service rules of judicial officers have already been framed and implemented but the service rules of the staff of judiciary are still being ignored which amounts to clear discrimination to the employees of the subordinate courts of Nagaland,” the association stated in its letter.
“Therefore, we have no option except to protest through peaceful agitation if the government does not respond within a month’s time,” the letter added.
