A farewell programme of Justice K. Meruno, Judge of the Gauhati High Court took place here this morning at the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court. The programme was led by Kekhriengulie, Advocate while special number was presented by Vunthungo & co.
Short speeches were delivered by representatives from the Nagaland Judicial Officers Association, the Law Department on behalf of the Government of Nagaland and the Registrar of the Kohima Bench. Representative from the Nagaland Judicial Officers Association said that Justice Merunuo is well known for his super command in law, adding that he has skill for handling complicated case. “He is a real encouragement and recognition of Nagas particularly in legal fraternity,” he said adding that the later had made almost effort to uplift the judiciary in the state.
“Your service towards our people should not end with your retirement,” he said and further hoped that the latter would continue to serve the people. Further, he acknowledged Justice Meruno for his fair administration of justice. Lauding the professional activities of Meruno, a representative from the law department prayed to the Almighty to shower grace upon him and take care of him.
Also stating that his immense contribution will be ever cherished by the members, the Registrar of the Kohima Bench also expressed the hope that Justice Meruno would keep his torch open to the legal fraternity for advice and encouragement. The programme concluded by with vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Khrütsoyi Luruo, State Chaplain.
