Kohima | August 10

Through Chada-nyi, the Jotsoma Youth Organisation (JYO) today undertook cleaning of footpaths leading to respective fields as well as repaired the village road from Kohima, Dimapur, Khonoma tri-junction near St. Andrew’s Church Jotsoma till the welcome gate at Tsieyie Dzü stream, Science College road.

JYO president Khrieto Peseyie said that it was a common practice where footpaths leading the paddy fields were cleared during Chada-Nyi.

It was also believed that sickly people would go out unknown to others and would clear the footpaths believing that their ailments will be cured when good deeds are done in secret.

This practice, Peseyie maintained was a good practice and is so much more practical in our Christian lives today and thus, the village agreed to carry on this practice.

50 trucks, 13 JCBs and three road rollers were put into action for the work.

Jotsoma Stone Crushers Union volunteered to supply all the stone chips required for repairing the village road while Jotsoma truck and excavators owners let their machineries carry and clear the debris on the road free of cost.
Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Advisor Urban Development and Municipal Affairs and MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro also joined the social work.

Around 2400 people joined the social work.
