The music video ‘Pandemic’ by K3M band from Wokha was officially launched at Socials Restro, Wokha on May 31. The event was graced by Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland.
Sekhose, in his address, praised the band’s enduring presence in the music scene, noting that K3M has been active for over three decades — an accomplishment that is rare even among international acts. He also highlighted the importance of persistence in the music industry and expressed confidence in the growing potential of the youth in Nagaland, despite challenges posed by limited platforms. He went on to emphasize that music, being a universal language, transcends boundaries, caste, and region, and reaffirmed its power to unite people across divides.
Furthermore, Sekhose reiterated the Youth Resources and Sports Department’s commitment to engaging young people through both music and discipline. He shared that initiatives such as inter-school beat contests are being organised to foster these values, and invited K3M to perform at future events, positioning the band as role models for aspiring musicians in Nagaland.
Special invitee, Dr N Mhonchan Kithan, Medical Superintendent of Motsuo Memorial District Hospital in Wokha, also lauded K3M’s efforts in spreading awareness about COVID-19 vaccination. He reminded the audience of the band’s impressive history, including their past collaboration with internationally renowned guitarist Jennifer Batten.
Dr Kithan further highlighted the health benefits of music, noting its positive effects on both physical and mental well-being, such as reducing pain, alleviating anxiety, and enhancing cognitive functions such as memory and creativity. He encouraged the band to continue using their platform to inspire the younger generation.
K3M band revealed that the song ‘Pandemic’ was conceptualised during the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when they signed a stakeholder agreement with the Indian Social Responsibility Network (ISRN). This partnership, which also involved the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Chief Medical Officer of Wokha, and JSI India, was part of the M-RITE initiative aimed at promoting COVID-19 vaccination, especially among the youth.
Speaking about the song, the band explained that it delves into the themes of loss, fear, and human vulnerability, while carrying an underlying message of hope and unity. The song is dedicated to frontline workers and all those who were impacted by the pandemic, as a tribute to their resilience and sacrifices.
The music video Pandemic was officially unveiled by the chief guest during the event and is now streaming on K3M’s official YouTube channel.
