
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): The Karbi Anglong Dimapur Transporter Association (KADTA) held a meeting with the Karbi Anglong Sand & Stone Mohaldar & Suppliers Association (KASSMSA) today and came to a mutual conclusion to reconsider the previous increase of sand rate which was hiked by Rs 10 per cft in July, thereby increasing the rate to Rs 32 per cft at the Sand Mohal, Karbi Anglong.
A press note from the KADTA President, Anil Toppo and General Secretary, Nito Sumi informed that the KASSMA President, Detward Bey had informed that another meeting would be held soon to discuss the matter and come up with a final decision.
The KASSMA reportedly “requested all suppliers to pay as usual at the Sand Mahal and also requested the suppliers to coordinate and consult the KADTA for smooth running of business.”
Vehicle owners of sand suppliers have been asked to contact and coordinate with KADTA general secretary, Nito Sumi, as the Dimapur unit will be looked after by the latter from October 30 onwards. Consequently, Karbi Anglong unit president, Anil Toppo along with members will look after Karbi Anglong.
The KADTA general secretary has also been asked to look into the taxation issue in Dimapur, especially with regard to charging more than the rate prescribed by the authority. Report of the same is to be submitted within five days.
Meanwhile, it was also informed that an election for KDTA working president will be held in the first week of December. “Any interested person among the members can apply for the post on or before November 30 at the head office Lahorijan,” the press note added.
It further informed that during today’s meeting, both the associations agreed to work together “in the interest of the public, as well as vehicle owners of sand suppliers.”
