KAAC land encroachment claim refuted

Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): Village leaders from Men Tisso and Longkathar villages in Karbi Anglong have jointly refuted claims made by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Dr Tuliram Ronghang that Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang is in possession of 3,500 bighas of encroached land.

In a joint declaration issued on June 16, representatives of the two villages clarified that the proposed Solar Power Project site mentioned in the KAAC chief’s June 14 press conference does indeed fall within the vicinity of their villages. However, they asserted that “TR Zeliang has never encroached any of our village land.”

The clarification also stated that the Deputy CM had neither initiated a school project involving 600 bighas in the area nor operated any vegetable farming projects between or within the two villages, contradicting the allegations made during the press briefing in Diphu.

“If there is any person or persons who has misled the respectable office of the CEM, KAAC with such deception, we hereby inform such person/persons to reveal their identity before the undersigned,” the signatories stated, warning that appropriate legal action would be initiated otherwise.

The declaration was signed by village members Harsing E Kathar and Mohuri E Kathar of Longkathar village, along with Sing Tisso, Headman of Men Tisso village, who also sealed the clarification in his capacity as a Traditional Village Headman.
