DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 27 (MExN): The second edition of the Kandi Sports Meet, organised under the aegis of the Kandi Sports Association (KSA), commenced on December 27 at the Kandi Students’ Union Ground.
The current edition marks a significant expansion with the introduction of Naga Wrestling, organised with the guidance and support of the Rengma Wrestling Association.
KSA president Haiwachu Apon delivered the welcome address during the inaugural programme.
President of the Naga Council, Dimapur, and Rengma Sports Association, G K Rengma, attended the event as the inaugural guest. Speaking on the theme “Vigorous Vitality”, he said the concept reflected the discipline, resilience and collective spirit essential across all sporting activities.
He emphasised that unity and togetherness outweigh individual aspirations and are crucial for inclusive growth in sports and society. Referring to the prevailing political scenario, Rengma said the Naga Council, Dimapur remained steadfast in its commitment towards the welfare of Greater Dimapur and Nagaland.
He extended his best wishes for the successful conduct of the meet.
The programme was chaired by Kandi Students’ Union president Kesihang Kath. During the event, the association felicitated K Kitenlo Thono and Khiti Kath in recognition of their excellence in sports.
