An in-depth explanation about immaterial hearsay is uncalled for but after going through the news item on the caption “Rejoinder to Ladigarh village and its surrounding areas” by Tamlu Village Council which appeared in local medias on 18/05/09 and 19/05/09, the Village Council of Kangtsung is constrained to issue this statement in brief.
That, Anaki village was established from Kangtsung during British regime within our territorial jurisdiction but none other and is purely an offshoot village of Kangtsung . The village was annexed under British administration by A.W.Davis after its administrative Sub-centre was set up at Mokokchung in 1889 but not established under permission of J.H. Hutton as claimed by Tamlu Village Council which was misleading.
And also no further permission from any other village to set up the village was sought for or paid no tax to any village even to its origin village Kangtsung.
It was indeed in 1914, a meeting was held with J.H. Hutton the then S.D.O Civil of Mokokchung at Tamlu Dak Bungalow in connection to the land we jhumed near Atkhel and Geleky forest area in the plain bordering Assam which was complained by the then DC Sibsagar but not in connection to setting up of Anaki village which was wrongfully stated by Tamlu Village Council as the village was already established long back and was a very old village by then. The fact is that, despite our long occupation of the whole surrounding areas till Ladigarh embankment boundary line with Assam , the British imperialist conducted a survey in 1910 for transferring the jhum land area to Assam tea company. But we (both Kangtsung and Anaki) out rightly rejected and jhumed the area beyond the surveyed line against all odds. Therefore, on the basis of Sibsagar DC ’s complaint had held the meeting as stated above. Hence the outcome of that historic meeting was that, he (J.H.Hutton) visited the jhumed land area of Kangtsung and Anaki in Dec’1914 and further allowed us to continue our cultivation as we were cultivating and explored the whole area since long back.
History is fact and universal therefore we are not interested in any exaggeration and wild imagination and will not entertain any further fabricated and frustrating story from any corner.
