Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): The Karbi Anglong Naga Union (KANU) has mourned the demise of Meren Ao, President of Borlengri Area Villagers Union (BAVU), on March 9.
The untimely loss of such a responsible and good leader is shocking and painful, stated a condolence note from KANU President Anilo Rengma.
Late Ao's demise is a great loss deeply felt by Naga society, for whom he made many remarkable social and political contributions, especially orchestrating the formation of KANU, the apex Naga tribal body in Karbi Anglong, Assam, it said. KANU paid homage to the departed leader and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, praying that Almighty God grant them solace in their hours of grief. "May the departed soul rest in eternal peace."
