Tseminyu, November 28 (MExN): Kashanyu village celebrated Rengma Ngada Festival at Kashanyu Renshu (Morung) with Er Tesinlo Semy Mining Engineer & Project Director (MM) as the special guest and Rtd Er S K Tep, EE PHED as the guest of honour on November 28.
In his key note address, Kashanyu Youth, President, Shyerhunlo Cheng declared Kashanyu village under Tseminyu sub-division as ‘Plastic Free Village.’ He shared on importance of Environmental awareness. The new Renshü (Morung) at Kashanyu was inaugurated coinciding with Ngada festival. The Morung constructed by Kashanyu Youth used only indigenous materials for construction.
“Kashanyu village is one of the oldest Rengma Naga villages,” stated Kashanyu Youth, President, Shyerhunlo Cheng and Kashanyu Youth, Advisor, Kegwayhun Tep in a press release.
In his address, Er T Semy stressed on the rich traditions of the Rengma and encouraged the youths to live a good morale life and focus on all round development.
Er S K Tep said that Ngada is among the most popular festivals in Nagaland. “The festival resembles a kind of thanksgiving which is clearly moulded by the Rengma culture. It is a post-harvest festival that celebrates a successful harvest,” he said.
The programme was chaired by Kegwasin Seb. Kashanyu Cultural troops presented Ngada cultural dance and Pelunyu presents folk song.
