KIPHIRE: The Kiphire Area Sangtam Students’ Union (KASSU) has appealed to the Nagaland Education department to release the pending salaries of SSA teachers across the state. A press release jointly issued by Litsapi Sangtam, President KASSU and L Issac Sangtam, Vice President KASSU stated that non-payment of salaries to teachers in the state is hampering the career of the student community. “As the government has satisfied and appointed them to be a teacher, the government should not hesitate to pay the salaries of the teachers,” the release stated. It stated that the state government should realize the “hue and cry” made by the teachers and should respond quickly. The union further extended support to the ongoing agitation staged by the aggrieved teachers. The KASSU also stated that children of most poor parents who cannot afford to send them to private institutions are being hampered as teacher are not willing to perform their duties without payment.
