Kohima, August 16 (MExN): The women members of Kohima Alibalar Telongjem (KAT), a society of Aliba Village, Mokokchung District, had discussed about the issues of rubbish that were tossed from cars that plagued the land.
The 24 members decided after a long deliberation, on May 2, 2019 to design and make trash bags for cars, stated a DIPR report.
The members wanted to provide appropriate means of waste disposal to protect the environment. Hence, they came up with the idea of eco-friendly trash bags for cars. The bags are made of washable cloth material and are designed in such a way that the storage space can hold empty water bottles and other litter. They have distributed about 100 bags so far.
One of the members pointed out that through this project the group wanted to encourage the women folks of their village by creating awareness about environmental damages caused by litter.
Each independent effort to capture and dispose of waste will always move us, however incrementally, in the right direction. The KAT-a society is trying to reach out to as many people as possible so as to make the people think carefully before tossing another item out the window or looking the other way when someone else does, and to consider the impact that they can make on the environment by disposing of waste properly.
