
Resolve to submit representation to district administration to strictly implement NLTP Act
Wokha, January 29 (DIPR): Responding to a directive of the NBCC, KBES (Kyong Baptist Churches Association) Women department held a one day seminar on clean election and liquor prohibition at KBES Mission Centre, Vankhosung here on January 28. Executive Secretary KBES M.C. Kithan, AEO Wokha Toshimong and Youth Secretary KBES Nzangthung Ngullie were the resource persons.
M.C. Kithan while speaking on the topic ‘Liquor prohibition’ recalled the initial hardships faced by the church leaders who had vision to safeguard and change the Naga society from the destructive impact of the rampant flow of liquor across the State. He also stated that many children and youth, who were treasured as the future of the Nagas, were seen easily ensnared and victimized and for which, the NBCC began to take initiative for liquor prohibition in Nagaland.
Speaking on the topic ‘Election code of conduct’, Toshimongba emphasized on one man, one place, one vote. He also spoke on model code of conduct, violation of model code of conduct, liabilities and rights of voters etc.
Nzanthung while speaking on the topic ‘Clean election, Christian perspective’ stated that people selling their votes for money during election should think twice because it is selling of one’s sum total of the human value with his identity and dignity. He also appealed the mothers to take courage to take initiative and stand and live for the truth observing that when mothers give their commitment, changes take place for better.
The KBES Women department and Kyong Eloe Hoho jointly resolved to submit a representation to the district administration to strictly implement the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act 1989 and pledged to willingly and totally participate in the Clean Election campaign initiated by NBCC as neutral body. The seminar chaired by KBES Women Secretary Lichilo Lotha was attended by church women leaders, NGOs and frontal organizations, women leaders.
