A four day long 51st games and sports meet of Khulazu Basa Youth Organization (KBYO) got underway today at Khulazu Basa Local Ground in Phek district.
Kudecho Khamo, president Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA) and intending candidate 18 Chozuba A/C graced the inaugural ceremony as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Khamo called upon the youth to actively involve in the field of games and sports.
Maintaining that sports have been gaining popularity in the modern society, he challenged the sports lovers to focus on professionalism to compete with the rest of the world.
He informed that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has been according best efforts towards promotion of sports in Nagaland.
Khamo maintained that the cash incentives extended by Chief Minister to the medal winners of Nagaland team at the recently concluded 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022, has been received well by many.
Nagaland registered huge improvement in the field of sports, which was reflected at the North East Olympic Games 2022 by winning 79 medals, Khamo said.
He called upon the sports lovers to involve in weight category sports discipline like wrestling, Wushu, Judo and Taekwondo.
Stating that youth are the strength and pride of the village, he challenged them to exercise positive attitude and be an asset to the community.
“You have to contribute for the betterment of the society,” he said and at the same time asked them to be ambassador for unity and peaceful society.
Khamo also challenged the youth to associate with trade and commerce activities and told them to be sincere, committed and truthful in their dealings to prosper.
Meanwhile, stating that he will be contesting in the forthcoming state general elections, he sought blessings and support of the public and to work together for all round development.
Sharing greetings, Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) general secretary Seve R. Vadeo called upon the youth to make the best use of their talents and bring pride and glory to the community.
He challenged the youth to translate their talents into positive result through hard work and dedication.
Zavepra Puro, president Chokri Area Games & Sports Association also exhorted the youth.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Khulazu Basa village council chairman Vesato Tetseo.
The programme was chaired by KBYO president Kezhohii Rhakho while KBYO assistant games & sports secretary Zhovekho Rhakho administered oath to the participating teams.
Vezhosa Chiizho, president NPF 18th Chozuba A/C will grace the closing ceremony on December 9.
