KCCI appeals to NPGs

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 20 (MExN): In view of the dismal financial market position prevailing in the state and Kohima in particular, the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries has appealed for all Naga Political groups to abstain in collecting any form of taxes from the business community till a level of normalcy and tolerance is restored and agreed upon against the multiple and unabated forms of taxation.

A press note from the KCCI stated that the business community have been “carrying the yoke of taxation for much too long and too harshly made to feed the various groups at the expense of our own well being.” “Our personals sufferings never being taken into consideration by the mushrooming factions till date,” it added.

KCCI lamented that multiple and unabated taxation “has reached such a sickening level" where businesses "are dying to sustain the multiple Naga political groups.” It added that the plight of business owners “has reached to such an unimaginable low where many people and families has gone bankrupt due to taxation under various guises and faces.”

Stating that people delve into business “to survive and not to sustain non producing entities,” it asked the groups to understand their plight and abide by its appeal “for the sake of peace and humanity.”
