Kohima, March 9 (MExN): Jakhama Catholic Women Association (KCWA) held a meeting on International Women’s Day to pray and plan for their Church jubilee year. Around 200 women gathered at the Church to kneel down and pray for women, a press release received here stated. They also reflected on the work that remains and remembered the many women whose voices go unheard and who continue to be excluded from realizing their full potential.
Fr. C. Joseph, Guest of honour, in his message asked the women to pledge to take a concrete step to help achieve gender parity more quickly - whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias. Speaking on the theme of the day, he said that each of us can be a leader within our own spheres of influence and commit to take pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity, the release added.
At 12 noon, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated and a special prayer was said for the newly elected team of KCWA, namely Tepushiile Agnes, Tepulenu Teresa, Rokosünu Regina, Medovole Mary, Elphrele Bridgit, Nodevile Noeline, and Zehovonu Bernadette.
