KOHIMA, JULY 10 (MExN): The Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) held a constituency-wise consultative meeting with leaders of all the seven Assembly Constituency Congress Committees (ACCC) in the district on July 10.
The meeting also saw the attendance of the frontal organizations under the KDCC, including Mahila, Youth and NSUI at Congress Bhavan, Kohima.
A press release from Yangertemjen, Press Secretary for the KDCC informed that the meeting, which started at 10:00am and concluded at 5:00pm, deliberated at length on re-strengthening of the party from the grassroots level within the district in preparation for the 2023 state general elections.
The respective ACCCs also submitted their constituency reports while also sharing their issues of concern.
Exhorting the leaders of respective ACCCs and their frontal bodies, KDCC President, Kevi Vizo lauded the hard work done by the ACCCs during the last Lok Sabha elections. He also appreciated the leaders of the ACCCs along with frontal leaders for standing firm on the principles and ideologies of the Congress party, despite some of the leaders shifting loyalty to others “in search of power.”
He encouraged them not to lose heart saying that Congress is surely returning to power in the 2023 elections. He cited that even though Congress is not in power at the Centre or the State, people are willfully enrolling themselves as members of the Congress party.
In this, he further gave out an open invitation to the Naga intellectuals and members of the general public desirous of upholding the values of secularism and democratic freedom to join the Congress fold.
Handing over the Congress membership enrollment list of Kohima district to the respective ACCCs, Vizo asked them to make detailed assessment of those still within the party while simultaneously removing the names of those who have shifted their loyalties to other parties.
The KDCC President also expressed happiness towards all the ACCCs for setting up of polling booth committees in the 226 polling stations of Kohima district.
The second session of the consultative meeting was held with the frontal organizations under KDCC – Mahila, Youth and NSUI. The district committee President Vizo while stating that they are the backbone the party, encouraged party workers to remain firm and work hard to bring back Congress MLAs in the 2023 state elections.
