Bethel Higher Secondary School, St.Mary's Cathedral HSS and Don Bosco HSS Kohima today won their respective matches on day two of the ongoing 2nd Kohima District Inter School Football Tournament here at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground).
In the first match of the day, Bethel HSS scored an empathic 5-2 win over Vineyard School.
H. Lipong, who opened the account for school in the 20th minute, registered a hattrick after scoring two more successive goals in the 22nd and 36th minute.
He became the second hattrick scorer of the tournament.
The 4th and 5th goal for Bethel HSS came through Vikehielie in the 41st and 50th minute. Hovito and Luntsuba netted a goal each for Vineyard School.
In the second match of the day, St. Mary's Cathedral HSS overpowered GHS Riisoma with a solitary goal.
Supong Yanger netted the winning goal for the school through an impressive long range strike in the 46th minute.
Don Bosco HSS Kohima advanced to the second round after trouncing the strong opponent TM GHSS via tie-breaker in the final match of the day.
The match witnessed 2-2 draw within 90th minute regulation time played.
TM GHSS took the lead 2-0 till 21st minute when Kethovizo netted both the goals in the 15th and 21st minute.
Mhasiletuo of Don Bosco School decreased the margin of TM GHSS in the 43rd minute and the decisive equalizer goal came through Lamthio in the 48th minute.
The match was decided through direct penalty shoot-out, wherein Don Bosco School registered victory against the rival 4(2) - 3(2).
