Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): Strongly disapproving the formation of the Kiphire District Public Forum (KDPF), the Kiphire District Sumi Hoho (KDSH) has warned any Sumi individual, group, society or frontal organisation in the district not to participate or support the KDPF in any manner without the official approval of the Hoho, since the Forum has been formed recently without its consent.
As press release issued by the KDSH President Sukuto Aye and General Secretary, Akaho K Yepthomi declared that the Hoho will not support and cooperate with the Forum ‘since the KDSH has no knowledge about the existence’ of the Forum. It warned of stringent action against those Sumi individuals and groups who disobeys the Hoho’s directive and added that the KDSH would be not held responsible for the action initiated against the defaulters.
“The so-called public forum was formed without consultation and take consent from the hoho. But organized by only few and functioning under the district banner is totally against the wishes of other community living under the same district,” the KDSH clarified its stand.
The release asserted that if the Forum is for the interest and welfare of the people of whole district, then it should have been referred to the people first and take them into confidence for logistic support and cooperation.
“But the so called forum have no people’s mandate which is unacceptable, therefore it is only self-style functioning by the few vested-interest,” the release alleged.
The KDSH, affirmed that even in the future, if the existence of such a forum becomes necessary, then all the tribal Hohos must have to sit together and chalk out proper formalities for the permanent body to exist.
The KDSH further asserted that Forum must be with the consent of all the tribal Hoho under the district for the larger interest of the district in general so that a peaceful co-existence among the ‘multi-linguistic district’ can be maintained.
