PEREN, JUNE 1 (MExN): The Kemmi Block Level Federation (BLF) under the Rural Development Block, Peren, marked its official launch and conducted its first Annual General Meeting on Friday at Town Stadium, Peren. The federation is promoted by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) as part of its effort to strengthen grassroots women’s collectives.

Peren Additional Deputy Commissioner D. Robin attended the event as the special guest. Addressing the gathering, Robin lauded the Self Help Group (SHG) members for their initiative in building up community-led institutions such as SHGs, Village Level Organizations (VLOs), and now the BLF.

He stressed the importance of utilizing institutional credit to start sustainable livelihood ventures, upscale production for commercial markets, and focus on value addition. He cautioned that loans and seed capital must be used effectively and not be misappropriated, adding, “Timely loan repayment should be a priority, and resources from NSRLM must be utilized to realize the vision of a self-sustaining BLF.”

Urging members to embody the name “Kemmi,” Robin also appealed to the department to support marketing and management training efforts for the federation. Also present were Head Dobashi Lungranghei Herie and Peren Town Council Chairman Mireulung Sephe, who attended along with councilors.

During the official proceedings, the federation adopted and approved the Annual Action Plan (AAP), Business Development Plan (BDP), and Executive Committee (EC) resolutions for the fiscal year 2025–2026. The newly elected office bearers for the 2025–2027 term will be led by Palakle Kenn as President of Kemmi BLF.
