Kenye urges Naga youth to venture into business

Nagaland lone Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha K. G. Kenye today said that a time has come for the Naga youth step into business venture.  

“Economy is the backbone of the society,” he said and urged upon the youth to step in business venture from a small humble beginning, which would eventually transform into success story.  

He said this while inaugurating a business venture by Kekhrieletuo - an electronic goods showroom billed “Spectrum -The eHub”- at High School Junction, Kohima. The showroom will deal high quality products ranging from TV, music system, camera and others.

Kenye said that in the absence of private sector in the state, the state government caters employment of the Naga people. He, however, said job opportunity from government sector has reached saturation point and can no more employ our children.  

He said maximum educated Naga youths are still continuing to hunt for job in the government sectors because private sectors fail to come to state because of many factors and reasons.  

Moreover, he also regretted that industries and commerce has not gained momentum among the Nagas, because Nagas have not been keen in business and not conscious about profit and loss as our forefathers were hardworking people who toiled in the field for their living.  

Kenye regretted that Naga people are not keen in establishing business venture. He maintained that it could be the result of the casualness attitude.

  “We lack tolerance, perseverance and sacrifice,” he said.  

He said the entire business is capture by outsiders, adding that non local have more skills and more perseverance.  

MP said the outsiders take losses as one natural way in business venture.  

He continued that in business, losses have to be taken into account and flourish gradually.  

Nonetheless, appreciating the present generation getting into business and entrepreneurship, Kenye appealed the youngsters to be perseverant, tolerant and embrace losses in the initial stage of business.  

He also urged them to make a small beginning and spread the message that there are more meaningful and profitable ventures besides the government job.
