Twenty five years Kezhaseluo-o Pienyii today emerged the champion title of 65nd Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) Wrestling Meet 2024 held at Kohima Village Ground, Ziekezou.
Son of Late Thepfüsanyü Pienyü from Kohima village, he was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, sponsored by Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor School Education & SCERT, Government of Nagaland.
Pienyii was also honoured with NASA wrestling champion running belt donated by Kezhalelie Keretsü.
Standing 6’3 and weighting 131 kg, he overpowered strong opponent Menuosetuo Yiese in final to emerge the champion title.
In quarter final, he defeated Keviser Dzüvichü and entered final after defeating Vizakietuo Suohu in the semi final.
25 years Menuosetuo Yiese, also from Kohima village bagged the second position and awarded with Rs. 80,000, jointly sponsored by M Solo (Entrepreneur), Kenei Mepfhü-o (Entrepreneur) and Benjamin Longkap, ADC, Commissioner office.
Son of Late Khrielatuo Yiese and standing 6 feet and weighing 125 kg, Yiese booked final berth after defeating Neizosetuo Kire in the semi final.
He defeated Khrilabeituo Semou in the quarter final.
28 years Vizakietuo Suohu downed Neizosetuo Kire to emerge the third position and awarded with Rs. 60,000, sponsored by Neibulie Sanchu (Entrepreneur).
28 years Suohu, son of Late Khriesakeduo-o Suohu from Kohima village qualified for semi final after defeating Vaphizo Rutsa in the quarter finals.
Fourth place winner Neizosetuo Kire (24) also from Kohima awarded with Rs 40,000 sponsored by Kekhriesilie Khoubve, president NDPP Youth, 11th Northern Angami –II AC.
Son of Neibatuo Kire from Kohima village, he downed Mharavizo Kesiezie in the quarter final.
Quarter finalists Keviser Dzüvicüi, Vaphizo Rutsa, Khrilabeituo Semou and Mharavizo Kesiezie received Rs. 5000 each sponsored by Mengutuo Rio, Class 1 Contractor.
Ruokuobeituo Kense (Entrepreneur) sponsored prize for group points.
60 wrestlers from 29 villagers under NASA vied for the coveted champion title.
Earlier, Vibeilietuo Kets, Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Nagaland graced the meet as the Special Guest and Keduo-o Zumu, president Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) as the Guest of Honour.
NASA president Neisavotuo Whuorie delivered welcome address at the inaugural function while NASA wrestling secretary Khrietuolie Usou administered oath to the wrestlers.
The programme was compered by Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü while Fr. Innocent Panmei, principal Christ King Higher Secondary School Kohima invoked God’s blessing. Vetholü Rhakho presented special number.
Vote of thanks was pronounced by NASA vice president Virielhoulie Miario while Organizing Committee convenor Zakietuolie Khrodi made declaration of the selected players for the upcoming Angami Wrestling Meet 2024 of Angami Sports Association (ASA).
Northern Angami Youth Organization assisted the meet as ground management.
