Kezo Basa wins best performing Adoption Committee

Kohima, June 15 (MExN): The Village Adoption Committee (VAC) 2018-19 Exit Programme cum District Planning & Development Board meeting was held at DPDB Conference Hall, Kohima on June 15. Advisor for Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire and MLA Keneizhakho also attended the programme.

According to a DIPR report, Kezo Basa Village Adoption Committee under 15th Southern Angami –II Assembly Constituency was adjudged the best performing Adoption Committee 2018-19 followed by Lower PR Hill Adoption Committee under 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency as the second best performing committee. Special award to Midland colony Adoption Committee under 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency was also announced during the programme. The best two winning Committees were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 as special award, which were given away to the winning committees by DC and Vice Chairman DPDB Kohima.

Dr. Nicky Kire in his short speech appreciated the good services contributed by the members of the VACs under the initiative of DPDB Kohima and encouraged them to continue with their good services to the villages wherever it is possible and further wished them all the best in the next season. He also requested the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima who is also the Vice Chairman of Kohima DPDB to share the idea of VAC to the other Districts, which he was optimistic that the other district would also take up the idea. He also shared about his concern on issues in regard to open defecation, construction of footsteps connecting the lower PWD and Midland, where he called upon the members to join hands together with him to address these issues with the concerned departments. Dr. Nicky also informed the members about the Rural Development Training at Chumukedima where various trainings have been imparted to the lesser fortunate family at free of course with placement provision. He therefore asked the members to create awareness on such facilities in their respective areas in order to help out the needy families.

Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Anoop Khinchi IAS also stated that the idea of VAC is to generate public participation and to mobilise them in the activities. He reminded the members that the whole exercise under the VAC should be of innovative ideas, which are replicable and to address the issues and further congratulated all the members for the successful conduct of various tasking jobs.

ADC Kohima and Convenor of the Core Committee, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa while declaring the result of the best VACs stated that the Core Committee has decided to award the best two winning committees and one special award basing on the following account like timely implementation and finishing of the activities, diversity of the activities, skill development programme, programme empowering women and children, participation of the concerned adopted ward/colony/village, participation of the elected members etc. She also stated that all the committees have carried out an exceptional work in their respective adopted villages/wards and congratulated them for their contributions.

During the programme, the Convenor and representative of six VACs under the district presented their activities report carried out in their respective adopted wards/villages during the year. The Exit Programme was chaired by District Planning Officer and Member Secretary DPDB, Pudusul Luho.

In the DPDB meeting, the house reviewed the last meeting minutes and two agenda on shifting of Mountain View Christian College from Keyakie BSF Camp to Nerhe Phezha and Kohima Town Club for new registration of society were taken up where the board decided to approve it for further submission to the Government.
