The two-day 57th annual games and sports meet' 2023 of the Kezoma Village Youth Organization culminated on January 5, at Kezoma Village, Kohima. 

Kroneicho Naki, Registrar, CE NPWD (Housing), Government of Nagaland while addressing the gathering as guest of Honour at the closing ceremony opined that games and sports meet organized in villages were the first level for sporting where there are many disciplines of games and sports one can participate. 

“We should aim to higher level and look beyond the village,” he stated. The most important point is to choose the right discipline and professionalise on that so that one can excel and achieve, he added. 

Naki said achieving in one's field makes one assets of the society and bring laurels to community. 

He encouraged the youths to take sports as profession through the platform. The speaker also mentioned that in the past, sportspersons from the village participated in the state level in wrestling and achieved which has brought laurels to the village. He said games and sports is one activity anybody can take part regardless of age and therefore called to maintain good health and sound mind.

During the meet, Nakimi Khel emerged champions of the Men’s Football. In Volleyball (men) Yohotsomi Khel A and Yohotsomi Khel B (women were declared champion. 

In traditional Games, Yohotsomi Khel A won both Luda and Thulo; Yohotsomi Khel B won Tug of war; Stilt Bamboo Walk went to Yohotsomi Khel A. 

During the closing ceremony, the comperes were Tepulezo Mekro and Seyiekrole Tase. Short speeches were delivered by Outgoing and incoming presidents and vote of thanks was delivered Zhopovi Zecho.
