Kohima, July 6 (MExN): KG Kenye, MP Rajya Sabha called on Ram Muivah (IAS), secretary North East Council (NEC) on July 6 in Shillong and discussed about the latest status of NEC, whose role he said is being undermined by the Centre.
A statutory body such as NEC, the MP asserted, cannot be subjugated and deprived of its autonomous powers unlike other administrative councils or bodies since the NEC plays a very important role in ushering in development for the entire North East Region.
Kenye assured NEC secretary to take up the matters with the Centre concerning NE Region.
He also made a courtesy call to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
