DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): Following an earlier statement which pointed to turmoil in the organizational setup of the NSCN (K), the group’s Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) issued another statement today reiterating that the NSCN led by Lt Gen (rtd) Khango Konyak would “uphold the historical and political rights of the Nagas under any circumstances.”
The press release claimed that the breakup in the NSCN (K) was a case of one group “seceding from the NSCN/GPRN” and entering into the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement pact with the Myanmar union “thus forfeiting almost a century old Naga struggle for sovereign independence.”
“The Nagas from India particularly cannot serve two masters and there cannot exist two parallel NSCN/GPRN in Nagaland. It would be a wastage of resources and unnecessary harassment to entertain the Myanmar NCA group in any form i.e. politically, morally or materially when they have sought refuge under Myanmar Juntas and are comfortably pursuing lucrative businesses worth millions in the form of road construction contracts, Gold and Jade mining, illicit Opium trade and other extortion rackets,” the MIP statement added.
It further stated that “Nagas under Indian occupation cannot afford to continue to feed the Myanmar NCA group despite the presence of few misguided leaders from Nagaland in their midst.”
On the claim that Lt Gen (rtd) Khango Konyak’s impeachment process was constitutional and consented by all the NSCN/GPRN members, the statement termed this as an exposition of their “ignorance, stupidity and insanity.”
The MIP termed it “utterly ridiculous to claim legality,” alleging that only 36 workers of a certain tribe “plotted and appended the impeachment order amid thousands of NSCN/GPRN workers who were completely ignored, uninformed and uninvolved in the conspiracy.”
The MIP further claimed that this is the fourth coup attempt by the same group; alleging that similar attempts were made in 1988, 2011 and 2015.
“If necessary every minute details of the Myanmar NCA group secret treacherous deal with Myanmar Juntas at Nyapidaw shall be exposed before the Nagas and the world,” the statement further cautioned.
