A new village Khanimu was formally inaugurated today by EAC Kubolong, Longkoksen. The new village was established with the blessing of its parent village Longjang under Asetkong range, Mokokchung district. Longjang Senso Mungdang on May 5, 1987 resolved to establish this village, as per records. The village was established basing on the memo, order number GAB-2/82/2006 dated 23 November 2007 of the Home Department, Government of Nagaland.
The traditional practice of lighting of fire in significance of the establishment of a new village was done by Merenmongba, Barrick. Khanimu village enjoys basic amenities including a medical sub-center, proper water supply, electricity and a government primary school. Village elders of the parent village Longjang and neighboring villages including Kilengmen and Asangma were also present during the inauguration.
